Hi Jinal,

I stumbled on your blog after seeing your Planners Ning page and before that, I was reading about Planning4Good, the non-profit planning group for a cause which I just learned about. I was reading your blog and the concept of Dsplaced. I can definitely relate to having travelled around the world, and having a time figuring out where's home. It reminds of the animation, Waltz With Bashir, about a girl being displaced because of the Lebanon War.

Well, I am writing to you because I think you have an interesting background in strategy and writing. I just moved to New York from California, and I'm hoping to make some friends. I have a similar background which I write for PSFK.com (my url: http://www.psfk.com/author/janice-chow) and have done some freelance projects in consumer insights and trends research for a branding agency and on the client-side. I still do some writing for fashion, retail branding, and art/culture clients, but I'd like to focus my energy in brand strategy. I don't have much connections in the planning world in New York. I know every person's situation is different, but how did you manage to steer your career towards strategic planning? Do you use much trend spotting and culture trends in your day-to-work as a strategist?

I thought I'd reach out to you since you also have a passion in writing, travels, and culture. And from reading your blog, you have good insights in a lot of things.
Would you be able to have a chat on the phone or over coffee? I hope to be in touch.

Best regards,
